Why test for radon ?

Radon is a radioactive gas naturally occurring in our environment. It may be found in significant amounts in places where a particular geology is conductive to radon emanations.

This map is taken from the Indicative Atlas of Radon in England and Wales (Health Protection Agency):

Test your home for radon with a DIY radon testing kit.

How to use a test kit?

Simple! A guide is provided with the DPR2 dosimeters.

Where should they be placed?

For a comprehensive test of your home we recommend the use of 3 dosimeters. The devices should be placed in the lowest occupied room, or the most lived in. Typically, for a standard home, you will position a dosimeter in the cellar, another in the ground floor lounge, and yet another in a first floor bedroom. Wintertime exposure should be preferred, when the building is heated and less ventilated.

How much does it cost?
